Hindustan Power, the energy company led by Ratul Puri and a prominent integrated power generation player, has secured a Letter of Award (LoA) for developing a 100 MW inter-state transmission system (ISTS)-connected solar power project with a 200 MWh Battery Energy Storage System (BESS). The award has been issued by SJVN Limited, a Navratna Central Public Sector Enterprise.

The project’s actual installed solar capacity will be significantly higher than the contracted 100 MW, designed not only to meet daytime demand but also to enable charging of the BESS, ensuring uninterrupted power supply during peak hours.

This award follows a tariff-based competitive bidding process and a successful e-Reverse Auction (e-RA) conducted on the ETS portal. It is part of a larger initiative comprising 1200 MW of ISTS-connected solar PV power projects integrated with 600 MW/2400 MWh of Energy Storage Systems (ESS) to be established across India.

The project aims to enhance grid resilience and operational flexibility by balancing intermittent solar power generation with real-time demand. The integrated BESS will facilitate energy shifting and peak load management, contributing to grid stability and efficiency. Designed to deliver firm and dispatchable power over the 25-year term of the Power Purchase Agreement (PPA), the project will reinforce Hindustan Power’s role in advancing India’s renewable energy transition.

Speaking on the development, Mr. Ratul Puri, Chairman of Hindustan Power, stated, “We are happy to have won this project, which marks an important step in bringing more clean and reliable energy to the country. By combining solar power with energy storage, we can ensure effective management of peak power demand along with uninterrupted supply of power even when the sun isn’t shining. I am confident that this will help in building a stronger, more dependable energy system for everyone.”

By integrating solar power with advanced storage capabilities, Hindustan Power continues to support India’s goals of sustainability, energy security, and 24×7 clean energy delivery.
