GridMarket, LLC, a leading clean energy solutions provider, has unveiled its newest project in collaboration with Performance Food Group, Inc. (PFG) (NYSE: PFGC), marking another milestone in sustainable energy initiatives. Located in Shafter, CA, the latest project encompasses a 1MW solar photovoltaic (PV) system paired with a 250kW/550kWh battery storage facility. Leveraging the investment tax credit (ITC), the initiative not only boosts project value but also underscores PFG’s commitment to operational excellence and environmental sustainability. The joint venture aims to enhance operational efficiency, drive cost savings, and facilitate infrastructure upgrades for future electric vehicle (EV) integration across select PFG facilities nationwide.
Peter Schneider, Director of Business Development and Project Management at GridMarket, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, stating, “PFG continues to be a fantastic partner and we are thrilled to announce this solar and storage project in Shafter, CA. Portfolio expansion in California and beyond underscores PFG’s dedication to advancing sustainable solutions and reinforces their commitment to clean energy development. Building on the success of the initial Gilroy, CA project, this project will have tremendous environmental and economic value for the Shafter facility and PFG’s carbon footprint as a whole.”
The move aligns with PFG’s strategic vision for future fleet electrification, as onsite infrastructure upgrades will address grid capacity challenges, paving the way for EV charger installation and meet growing demand. Immediate benefits include substantial cost savings and emissions reduction.
Jeff Williamson, Senior Vice President of Operations at PFG, commended the partnership with GridMarket, citing its contribution to advancing the company’s renewable energy goals. “Our partnership with GridMarket continues to produce valuable projects for our facilities,” said Williamson. “We have been able to outline initial steps in our renewable energy strategic plan using GridMarket’s approach in California. We are now implementing that plan to help achieve cost-savings and make important progress against our overall sustainability goals across the company.”
With California customers grappling with rising energy costs, regulatory changes, and environmental concerns, PFG’s proactive stance underscores its commitment to clean energy adoption. The initiative initiated through the GridMarket platform and first realized at a site in Gilroy, CA, now extends to the Shafter facility.
Scott Ameduri, President at Enerlogics, emphasized the importance of collaboration in designing systems that meet demand while aligning with sustainability goals.
“We worked closely with GridMarket and our construction partner, MBL Energy, to appropriately size and design the system to meet demand needs at the Shafter facility while aligning with PFG’s company-wide sustainability and carbon goals. We are thrilled to be executing on this second project as part of our partnership – following the project being deployed in Gilroy – and are eager to continue working through the identified sites to bring clean generation, storage, and fleet electrification value. This and other PFG projects reflect their commitment to a greener, more resilient future, showcasing innovation and environmental responsibility in action,” Ameduri stated.
