NTPC Green Energy Limited (NGEL), on behalf of its joint venture NTPC UP Green Energy Limited (NUGEL), has invited Expressions of Interest (EOI) for renewable energy procurement in Uttar Pradesh.
NUGEL, formed in partnership with Uttar Pradesh Rajya Vidyut Utpadan Nigam Limited (UPRVUNL), aims to develop up to 2 GW of solar capacity in the state. The current EOI pertains to a 100 MW solar PV project integrated with a 50 MW/200 MWh Battery Energy Storage System (BESS), designed to provide firm and dispatchable power during both solar and non-solar hours.
The hybrid project is expected to support industrial and commercial consumers in managing peak demand while reducing dependence on grid power and diesel-based generation. The project will be connected to the nearest substation of Uttar Pradesh Power Transmission Corporation Limited (UPPTCL).
The EOI is open to commercial and industrial consumers with a minimum demand of 5 MW, along with distribution companies (DISCOMs) and power aggregators or traders capable of pooling demand to meet the threshold. Eligible applicants must be legally registered entities with required regulatory approvals and must not be blacklisted by any government authority.
Interested parties are required to submit applications through designated e-procurement portals, along with supporting documents including incorporation certificates, audited financial statements for the past three years, and authorization documents. All submissions must be in English and will remain valid for one year from the submission deadline.
The EOI was issued on March 23, 2026, with the last date for queries set for April 7, 2026, and the final submission deadline on April 23, 2026. Responses will be opened on April 24, 2026. Notably, the EOI does not require an Earnest Money Deposit (EMD) or Performance Bank Guarantee (PBG), as it is a non-binding demand discovery exercise.
Following evaluation, NUGEL may proceed to sign Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) with shortlisted participants. The initiative is expected to enhance Uttar Pradesh’s renewable energy landscape by delivering reliable, cost-effective solar power integrated with storage, while supporting grid stability and reducing reliance on conventional energy sources.
