Global energy storage company HiTHIUM officially entered the Hetao Hong Kong Park, announcing the establishment of an International Innovation Center for Long-Duration Energy Storage. The launch ceremony, themed “Long-Duration Energy Storage · Pioneering the Future,” marked a major step in strengthening Hong Kong’s position as a global innovation and technology hub.

The event was attended by Sun Dong, Secretary for Innovation, Technology and Industry of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government, and Cai Jieming, who jointly presided over the ceremony. Yi Ziqi, Board Member and Vice President of HiTHIUM, also delivered remarks.

Secretary Sun Dong said HiTHIUM’s decision to establish operations in the park reflects strong confidence in Hong Kong’s innovation ecosystem and international business advantages. He added that the initiative would inject fresh momentum into the city’s advanced manufacturing and new energy sectors.

Speaking at the ceremony, Yi Ziqi said the center represents a strategic step aligned with China’s national development priorities and Hong Kong’s accelerating integration into the Greater Bay Area. He outlined three core focus areas for the new center.

First, the company will deepen industry collaboration to drive breakthroughs and real-world applications in long-duration energy storage technology. Second, it will leverage Hong Kong’s role as a bridge between domestic and international markets, connecting with the manufacturing strengths of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area while serving rising global demand in sectors such as grid storage and AI data centers. Third, HiTHIUM will strengthen digital and intelligent manufacturing systems to improve product safety, quality consistency, and lifecycle competitiveness.

The company said the innovation center will accelerate the transition of energy storage technology from research to large-scale commercial deployment, while enhancing HiTHIUM’s global production capacity and supply chain network.

Industry observers view the project as a timely boost for Hong Kong’s ambitions in green technology and advanced manufacturing. With the city positioning itself as an international innovation powerhouse, the partnership is expected to create a scalable model for future industrial development.
