In a significant development, Tata Power has received the inaugural set of Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) from TATA AutoComp, a leading auto-component conglomerate. The handover ceremony took place in Pune, where Dr. Praveer Sinha, CEO & MD of Tata Power, accepted the BESS, marking a pivotal step for the energy giant.
These BESS are earmarked for deployment at the construction site of a 120 MW Energy Storage Park in Chhattisgarh, aiming to bolster the integration of clean energy sources.
Moreover, Tata AutoComp inaugurated a cutting-edge manufacturing facility dedicated to Battery Energy Storage Systems, which was officially opened by Dr. Praveer Sinha and Mr. Arvind Goel, Chairman of Tata AutoComp Systems Limited. The Li-Ion Based BESS will be produced under the joint venture Tata AutoComp Gotion Green Energy Solutions Pvt. Ltd.
Dr. Praveer Sinha highlighted the strategic collaboration, stating, “Our partnership with Tata AutoComp for Battery Energy Storage Systems is integral, especially with the growing significance of renewables. These BESS will play a crucial role in ensuring uninterrupted clean power supply, aiding our green energy transition.”
Arvind Goel emphasized Tata AutoComp’s commitment to technology and market innovation, stating, “We’ve been at the forefront of pioneering cutting-edge solutions, including Li-Ion based Battery packs and BMS for Electric Vehicles. Now, leveraging this expertise, we’re venturing into Battery Energy Storage Systems, aiming to supply Tata Power and contribute to the energy storage industry.”
The newly inaugurated BESS facility, spanning over 22,227 square feet, holds a significant capacity of 6 GWH, geared towards meeting the demands of the burgeoning energy storage market.
This collaboration follows Tata AutoComp’s previous agreement with Tata Power Solar Systems Ltd, a subsidiary of Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited, further underlining their commitment to providing BESS for renewable projects and advancing the integration of clean energy solutions.
