EUPD Research has published the 14th edition, Global PV InstallerMonitor 2021/2022(c), for the Australian market. This survey provides unique insights from the point of view of PV installers and sheds light on Australia’s rooftop photovoltaic (PV), market segment.

While the Australian PV market is growing, the residential segment continues to be the dominant driver. In the past 12 months, the number of installers who offer or plan to offer energy storage solutions has increased.

The Australian photovoltaic market continues its strong growth. In 2021, it added approximately 5.2 GW to its installed capacity. Last year, the largest share of total installed capacity was attributed to residential PV installations with a power output of 10 kWp or less.

EUPD Research’s Global PV InstallerMonitor 2021/2022(c), targets installers in select core PV markets. The survey was completed by 200 Australian companies. This report gives you exclusive insight into the most recent developments in the rooftop PV sector in Australia.

According to the survey results, 54 % of installers in Australia offer energy storage services to customers. This is up from 41 % last year. Another 30% plan to include storage solutions into their portfolio by 2022. The remaining 16 percent of the sample group does not currently offer energy storage and is not planning to in the near future.

Asking for reasons why they didn’t include energy storage in their portfolios of products, Australian installers cited economic reasons (too much price and, consequently, too low margins), ahead of lack of expertise and high demand for training. These are just a few of the many results that will help manufacturers and wholesalers align their product-and service portfolios according to the needs of key market intermediaries down below.

The Global PV InstallerMonitor 2021/2022(c), for the Australian market, focuses on the usual topics like which module-, storage-, or inverter-brands installers have in their portfolios, where and how they buy their components, and whether they are satisfied with the brands that they offer. Installers were also asked to rate which mounting structure manufacturers they recommend and know.
