Neuron Energy, a leading manufacturer of lithium-ion batteries for electric vehicles, has entered the grid-scale energy storage segment with the commissioning of a new Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) manufacturing facility in Talegaon, Maharashtra.

Developed with an investment of ₹100 crore, the 7-acre plant is a fully automated, robotic manufacturing unit dedicated to producing containerised BESS solutions. The facility, once fully operational, is expected to achieve an annual production capacity of 5 GWh, capable of manufacturing up to 1,000 modular BESS units per year. These systems are designed for deployment in solar and grid applications, providing efficient energy storage and ensuring reliable supply during peak demand periods.

Pratik Kamdar, commenting on the development, said, “Neuron Energy’s entry into grid-scale storage addresses the growing demand for robust energy storage infrastructure, particularly as renewable energy adoption rises across India. The Talegaon facility will enable the production of high-performance, large-format storage solutions for both domestic and international markets.”

The project is also expected to create over 500 direct and indirect jobs, spanning engineering, operations, system integration, and technical services. Neuron Energy plans to target solar developers, commercial and industrial (C&I) customers, and utilities, with a projected market distribution of 60% domestic and 40% exports.

The commissioning of the Talegaon BESS facility marks a strategic milestone in Neuron Energy’s evolution from an electric mobility-focused battery maker to a comprehensive energy solutions provider, reinforcing India’s push toward large-scale, renewable-backed energy storage.
