BYD Energy Storage has achieved the top ranking for reliability and availability among all stand-alone energy storage projects in California, as recognized by the California Independent System Operator (CAISO). The Central California Energy Storage Project, powered by BYD’s advanced technology, has been operational for six months and is already setting new industry benchmarks.
The 100 MW/400 MWh facility provides clean, reliable energy sufficient to power more than 100,000 homes for up to four hours each day during peak demand. The project significantly enhances California’s grid stability, supporting energy resilience and reducing the risk of blackouts across the state.
At the core of this success lies BYD’s MC Cube energy storage system, featuring Cell-To-System (CTS) technology. This innovation integrates blade batteries directly into the storage unit, improving space utilization, safety, and operational efficiency. The modular design ensures easy installation, flexible capacity expansion, and simplified maintenance, while meeting stringent North American energy infrastructure standards.
“With over two decades of experience in battery innovation, BYD Energy Storage is committed to advancing global energy transformation,” said Michael Liu, Vice President of BYD Energy Storage. “Every megawatt of storage brings us closer to a sustainable, decarbonized future.”
BYD has maintained a strong U.S. presence since 2013, creating hundreds of jobs and operating five service centers across California, Indiana, New Jersey, and Hawaii. Its newly completed U.S. service center further strengthens after-sales support through intelligent systems, spare parts management, and a dedicated technical team — ensuring “six-star” service for North American partners.
As a global leader in new energy solutions, BYD continues to drive innovation and collaboration in the renewable sector, reinforcing its mission to “Build Your Dreams” and power a greener, more reliable energy future.
