Nexta Capital Partners and Octopus Energy Generation have received the Single Authorization (Autorizzazione Unica) from Italy’s Ministry of the Environment and Energy Security (MASE) to develop a 50 MW Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) in Northern Italy.
The approval marks a major milestone in Nexta’s growth strategy, which already includes more than 500 MW of advanced-stage projects and targets a total capacity of 1,500 MW. The new BESS will strengthen the flexibility and resilience of Italy’s national power grid, facilitating renewable energy integration and supporting the country’s transition to a sustainable energy model.
“Securing this authorization confirms the strength of our vision and the ability of the Nexta team to successfully deliver complex projects with determination and expertise,” the management of Nexta Capital Partners said in a statement. “We also highlight the excellent collaboration with Octopus Energy Generation, a strategic partner in promoting innovative and sustainable energy solutions.”
The project is expected to play a pivotal role in balancing supply and demand on the electricity grid, ensuring reliability while accelerating Italy’s decarbonization journey.
