JSW Energy, through its subsidiary JSW Renew Energy Forty Five, has signed a 25-year Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with Bangalore Electricity Supply Company Limited (BESCOM) for a 100 MW solar power project integrated with a 100 MWh battery energy storage system (BESS) in Karnataka.

The solar-plus-storage hybrid project will be located in Kalaburagi district and will be connected to the 220/400 kV KPTCL Firozabad substation. The agreed tariff under the PPA is ₹4.31 per kilowatt-hour, providing long-term pricing stability for BESCOM and predictable returns for JSW Energy.

This agreement marks a significant advancement in JSW Energy’s energy storage ambitions, taking its total locked-in energy storage capacity to 29.4 GWh, which includes 3 GWh from battery storage and 26.4 GWh from pumped hydro projects. The company has outlined a strategic goal of reaching 20 GW generation capacity and 40 GWh energy storage capacity by 2030.

The project adds to JSW’s recent renewable momentum. In August 2024, its subsidiary JSW Renew Energy Twenty Limited secured a 300 MW solar PPA with BESCOM at a tariff of ₹2.89/kWh for a project in Pavagada Solar Park, also in Karnataka.

The latest PPA underscores JSW Energy’s leadership in hybrid renewable energy solutions and supports BESCOM’s strategy to strengthen grid reliability while integrating higher shares of renewable power.
