In a significant leap toward sustainable energy leadership, India has unveiled the world’s first and largest Integrated Renewable Energy Storage Project, spearheaded by Greenko Group. Union Minister for New and Renewable Energy & Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution, Shri Pralhad Joshi, visited the landmark project site in Pinnapuram and lauded the initiative as a global benchmark in green energy innovation.

Developed with a total investment of USD 4.2 billion, the project integrates 4,000 MW of solar, 1,000 MW of wind, and 1,680 MW of pumped hydro storage. With a daily energy storage capacity of 10,080 MWh in a single cycle, the facility is designed to deliver round-the-clock, carbon-free electricity — crucial for powering industries like green hydrogen, steel, and aluminum.

During an aerial tour and onsite briefing, Minister Joshi expressed pride in the project’s scale and ambition, calling it “a shining example of India’s green energy potential under the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.” He also commended the Government of Andhra Pradesh and Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu for their supportive policies that made the project possible.

Greenko’s Group CEO & MD, Mr. Anil Chalamalasetty, presented the project’s highlights and emphasized its potential to avoid 3.3 million tonnes of CO₂ emissions annually. He noted that beyond environmental impact, the project would stimulate regional economic growth, create employment, and encourage industrial development.

Greenko is also developing multiple pumped hydro projects to build a 100 GWh cloud storage platform, enabling real-time clean energy supply across India. Integrated with India’s “One Nation, One Grid” initiative, the Pinnapuram project sets the stage for the world’s lowest-cost green energy production and supports global decarbonization efforts.
