AP To Have World’s Largest Integrated Renewable Energy Storage Project

Shri Y. S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, the Hon’ble Chief Minister for Andhra Pradesh performed the “first concrete pour ceremony” of the largest Integrated Renewable Energy Storage Project in the world (IRESP). It is being implemented by Greenko Group at Kurnool District of Andhra Pradesh. The Indian government will use the 5,230 MW Integrated Renewable Energy Storage Project to help achieve energy security and facilitate global energy transition.

This unique single-location energy storage project has both solar and wind capacities. The project will be implemented with an investment exceeding US$3.0 Billion. It includes Pumped Storage (10,800 MWh of daily storage), Solar (3000 MW) and Wind (550 MW).

The Hon’ble Chief Minister for Andhra Pradesh Shri Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy stated that the project is creating history. He said that the “What Andhra Pradesh (with the project), will be a triggering point” that would inspire the country. Renewable Energy would be in the forefront and fossil fuels would fall to the back.

The Greenko Group was also appreciated by the Chief Minister for initiating the creation of the largest global renewable energy storage facility. The Chief Minister stated that the project would provide clean energy 24 hours a day.

“We offer a unique opportunity for those interested in green power, decarbonizing the economy and renewable energy. Jagan Mohan Reddy stated that because of our topography, we have 33000 Megawatts available in the state. This project will demonstrate how green power can also be generated.

This was possible due to the policy support at national levels and the visionary leadership by Hon’ble Chief Minister Of Andhra Pradesh Sri Jagan Mhan Reddy garu who is transforming Andhra Pradesh in to a sustainable manufacturing center.

Because of its favorable topography for PSPs, Andhra Pradesh will soon be India’s energy storage capital. This integrated solution is crucial for the Nation’s energy independence and positions it as a leader in decarbonized economies.

Greenko pioneered storage contracts with large industrial companies and central utilities through this project. It is expected that the project will be commissioned in the last quarter of 2023.
