SolarEdge Technologies has announced the launch of its new higher-capacity commercial energy storage solution, the CSS-OD 197 kWh system, now available for order across Europe and Asia.
Designed for commercial and industrial (C&I) applications, the system features a 197 kWh battery cabinet paired with one or two 50 kW battery inverters. It is scalable up to 1 MW and 4 MWh per site, enabling deployment across medium- to large-scale commercial installations.
The solution is engineered to support a wide range of use cases, including maximising solar self-consumption, peak shaving, tariff optimisation, and managing import-export limits. It can be installed in both indoor and outdoor environments and offers enhanced safety, cybersecurity features, simplified installation, and faster commissioning.
The launch builds on the strong market adoption of SolarEdge’s earlier CSS-OD 102.4 kWh storage system, introduced in late 2024, which has since been deployed at scale globally.
Company officials highlighted that expanding the commercial storage portfolio opens new revenue opportunities for solar installers, particularly as businesses increasingly adopt storage solutions to optimise energy usage and reduce costs.
SolarEdge noted that growing demand for self-consumption, coupled with declining net metering incentives and the rise of dynamic tariffs, is accelerating the adoption of commercial storage systems across global markets.
