Sorigin RE Services has entered the standalone energy storage segment with the award of a 250 MW / 500 MWh Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) project in Rajasthan, marking a key milestone in its expansion into advanced energy solutions.

The project will be developed across two sites—Giral and Suratgarh—each with a capacity of 125 MW / 250 MWh. Sorigin RE Services will execute the project on a full engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) basis, covering design, supply, installation, and commissioning.

Awarded by a leading independent power producer, the project is aimed at enhancing grid reliability by storing surplus renewable energy and enabling its dispatch during peak demand periods. This capability is becoming increasingly critical as India scales up its solar and wind capacity, driving the need for flexible and responsive grid infrastructure.

The development reflects Sorigin’s strategic shift beyond traditional solar EPC services toward integrated energy solutions, including energy storage. Industry experts note that standalone BESS projects are gaining traction in India, supported by favourable policy frameworks and growing demand for grid stability.
