Vikram Solar Limited, through its wholly owned subsidiary VSL PowerHive Private Limited, has announced the launch of ‘VION’, a new lithium-ion battery brand designed for electric mobility, residential energy backup, and distributed energy storage applications.

The launch marks the company’s strategic entry into distributed battery storage solutions, expanding its portfolio beyond solar manufacturing and reinforcing its position in the integrated clean energy ecosystem.

The VION platform introduces a next-generation lithium battery storage portfolio built to deliver reliable and high-performance energy solutions for everyday applications. Designed specifically for India’s evolving energy landscape, the battery systems prioritize safety, long service life, and consistent performance across frequent charge cycles, variable load conditions, and demanding operating environments.

Battery Solutions for Residential Power Backup

The initial VION product portfolio includes five commercial battery products across three key categories: inverter batteries, integrated inverter-battery systems, and e-rickshaw batteries.

For residential applications, the company has introduced lithium battery systems ranging from 1.2 kWh to 15 kWh, designed for UPS and inverter-based power backup systems. These solutions provide households with extended backup durations of over three, six, and up to twelve hours, depending on energy requirements.

Higher-capacity batteries between 5 kWh and 15 kWh are capable of supporting high-power appliances such as air conditioners during outages.

According to the company, the lithium batteries are up to five times lighter than traditional batteries, while offering fast charging capabilities, approximately 3,000 life cycles, and a warranty of up to 60 months. With an efficiency level of up to 97%, the systems are designed to operate maintenance-free while offering an environmentally friendly power backup option.

Integrated Inverter-Battery Solution

PowerHive has also introduced PowerStack 1.0, an integrated inverter-battery solution aimed at simplifying home backup infrastructure.

The system is available in a 1.2 kWh configuration and combines the inverter and battery into a single unit. It comes in both wall-mounted and tabletop variants, enabling easier installation in compact residential spaces.

Equipped with a smart Battery Management System (BMS) and a compact design, the integrated solution is designed to deliver reliable backup power with minimal maintenance requirements.

Lithium Battery for Electric Mobility

The VION product line also targets the rapidly expanding electric mobility segment with the introduction of a 5 kWh lithium battery designed for electric rickshaws.

Built using LiFePO4 prismatic cells and compliant with AIS-156 safety standards, the battery is engineered to handle intensive daily usage cycles associated with commercial three-wheelers. The system is backed by a 36-month warranty, highlighting its suitability for high-demand mobility applications.

Entry into Large-Scale Energy Storage

In addition to residential and mobility solutions, the company is advancing its presence in the Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) market. PowerHive has already secured a 100 MWh BESS order, indicating early demand for large-scale storage deployments.

Commenting on the launch, Gyanesh Chaudhary, Chairman and Managing Director of Vikram Solar, said energy storage will play a vital role in enabling reliable and flexible clean energy systems as India accelerates its energy transition.

He noted that the launch of the VION battery platform represents a significant milestone in the company’s transformation from a solar manufacturing company into a provider of integrated clean energy solutions combining generation and storage technologies.

Arun Mittal, CEO of VSL PowerHive, added that the company developed the VION platform to address real-world energy challenges, emphasizing safety, consistent performance, long product life, and dependable service support.

According to Mittal, the battery solutions are designed to support a wide range of use cases including home power backup, solar energy storage, electric mobility, and small business power requirements.
