ACME Solar Holdings Limited has commissioned the first phase of a large battery energy storage system (BESS) project in Rajasthan, marking a significant step in strengthening India’s renewable energy infrastructure.

The project is being developed by ACME Sun Power Private Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of ACME Solar. The initial phase of the project has a capacity of 33.335 MW/160.48 MWh, forming part of a much larger energy storage facility planned to reach 300 MW/1,400 MWh upon full completion.

Strategic Location for Grid Support

The battery storage facility is located in Badi Sid village, covering parts of the Phalodi and Jodhpur districts. The site has been strategically selected to strengthen regional power infrastructure and support the integration of renewable energy into the grid.

According to the company’s filing with stock exchanges, the commercial operation date (COD) for the first phase was set as March 8, 2026.

Regulatory Disclosure

The announcement was made in accordance with Securities and Exchange Board of India regulations under Regulation 30 of the SEBI (Listing Obligations and Disclosure Requirements) Regulations, 2015, which requires listed companies to disclose material developments to investors and stock exchanges.

Role of Battery Storage in Renewable Energy

Large-scale battery energy storage systems are increasingly becoming critical for renewable power integration. Such systems allow excess solar energy generated during the day to be stored and supplied back to the grid during periods of high demand or low renewable generation.

By improving energy management and stabilizing power supply, battery storage technologies help address one of the major challenges associated with renewable energy—its intermittent nature.

Supporting India’s Clean Energy Transition

Once fully completed, ACME Solar’s 300 MW/1,400 MWh BESS project is expected to play a significant role in enhancing grid stability and improving the reliability of renewable power supply in the region.

The project also reinforces ACME Solar’s growing presence in India’s energy storage sector as the country continues to expand renewable energy capacity and modernize its power infrastructure.
