Fluence Energy Inc., a global leader in energy storage systems and grid optimization software, has announced that it will supply its advanced Gridstack Pro™ technology to the 1,200 MWh Pioneer Clean Energy Center in Yuma County, Arizona.

The large-scale project is being developed by BrightNight in partnership with independent power producer Cordelio Power and combines a 300 MW solar power plant with a 300 MW / 1,200 MWh battery energy storage system. Once operational, the facility will deliver firm, dispatchable clean electricity to meet Arizona’s rapidly increasing power demand and strengthen grid stability during peak load periods.

According to the developers, the project will operate under a long-term tolling agreement and is expected to play a key role in reducing stress on the regional grid while supporting the state’s clean energy transition.

Fluence’s Gridstack Pro system will use U.S.-manufactured battery cells, modules, enclosures, and thermal management systems, aligning with national goals to expand domestic clean energy manufacturing and improve energy security.

BrightNight CEO Martin Hermann said the project demonstrates how pairing renewable energy with advanced battery storage can deliver reliable power and real grid resilience for fast-growing regions such as Arizona.

Fluence’s Chief Customer Success Officer John Zahurancik added that large-scale battery storage has already proven its ability to support grid reliability in the U.S. and that the Pioneer project highlights how American-made systems can meet critical power needs cost-effectively.

Full construction is currently underway, with commercial operations expected to begin by April 2027. The project is anticipated to become one of Arizona’s major clean energy and battery storage hubs, supporting long-term sustainability goals while ensuring reliable electricity supply.
