Ddev Plastiks Industries Limited has announced its strategic entry into the Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) sector, marking a significant diversification into India’s rapidly expanding renewable energy ecosystem. The move was approved by the company’s Board of Directors on January 5, 2026, and disclosed in compliance with SEBI Listing Regulations (Regulation 30).

As India accelerates its transition to clean energy, the growing reliance on intermittent sources such as solar and wind has heightened the demand for advanced energy storage solutions. BESS technologies are emerging as a critical enabler for grid stability, peak load management, and efficient energy utilization, creating a high-growth opportunity for companies in the sector.

BESS Market Opportunity in India

Global estimates indicate strong momentum in the BESS market, driven by decarbonization goals and large-scale renewable adoption. In India, energy storage capacity is projected to expand rapidly by the end of the decade, offering opportunities across utility-scale, commercial, industrial, and residential applications.

Planned BESS Manufacturing and R&D Initiatives

Ddev Plastiks has outlined a multi-phase BESS manufacturing program:

  • Phase 1: A 5 GWh BESS manufacturing facility is planned by FY 2026–27, with a projected capital investment of ₹150–200 crore.
  • A state-of-the-art R&D center will be established, focusing on advanced battery technologies, performance optimization, and cost-efficient storage solutions.

The company expects the BESS business to start contributing to revenues from the second half of FY 2026–27, signaling a strategic step in strengthening its long-term growth while supporting India’s renewable energy ambitions.
