Global renewable energy engineering consultancy Enertis Applus+ has played a pivotal role in enabling Lightshift Energy to secure a $75 million credit facility from KeyBanc Capital Markets. The financing will accelerate Lightshift’s expanding portfolio of battery energy storage system (BESS) projects across the U.S. East Coast.

Lightshift, a leading developer, owner and operator of utility-scale energy storage projects, will use the credit facility to back six operational BESS projects and advance ten more currently in or nearing construction. The funding also lays the foundation for a broader wave of upcoming developments as the company enters a high-growth phase.

As Independent Engineer (IE), Enertis Applus+ provided comprehensive technical and financial due diligence, strengthening investor confidence. Its review covered key project components, including the energy storage system (ESS) supply agreement, long-term services agreement (LTSA), EPC contract, interconnection agreement, project design, financial model, and useful life plan. These assessments ensured the bankability, reliability, and long-term operational viability of the projects.

Rory Jones, Co-Founder & Managing Partner at Lightshift Energy, added: This transaction marks a major milestone for the industry by financing a fleet of battery projects across diverse regions and offtakers — all designed to deliver firm grid capacity quickly and effectively.

Lightshift Energy, headquartered in Arlington, Virginia, is building a diverse multi-gigawatt pipeline of storage projects across the U.S., leveraging advanced analytics, design capabilities, and community-focused development.

Enertis Applus+, part of the global testing, inspection and certification leader Applus+, brings more than 25 years of experience, 750 GW in renewable energy consulting, and 100 GWh in energy storage expertise across 6,000 projects worldwide.
