Saft, a subsidiary of TotalEnergies, has announced a significant expansion of its presence in the Asia-Pacific (APAC) region with a major Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) project in Taichung, Taiwan. The company has secured its fifth consecutive contract with Foxwell Power Co, a subsidiary of Shinfox Energy, marking its largest project in Taiwan to date.

Under the agreement, Saft will deliver a 356 MWh lithium-ion BESS, comprising 108 I-Shift battery containers designed for compact installation and high performance. The system will play a crucial role in supporting Taiwan’s 2050 net-zero strategy, enhancing grid stability, and managing renewable energy intermittency and congestion.

Cybersecurity was a key factor in Foxwell’s selection of Saft. The project will feature Saft’s AI-integrated control solution, developed and manufactured in Europe, and certified to the highest cybersecurity standards. The system manages operations from the module to the system level, ensuring data protection and operational reliability.

“The key to this success is the mutual trust we have developed over several years of successful joint projects,” said Vincent Le Quintrec, ESS Sales Director at Saft. With this latest deal, Saft’s installed base in Taiwan will reach 630 MWh once the project is completed.
