TWAICE, a leader in predictive analytics for battery energy storage systems (BESS), has unveiled over 15 major enhancements to its software platform, aiming to address the growing operational and financial complexities facing storage operators. The updates represent a strategic leap toward improving system reliability, financial outcomes, and asset longevity in an increasingly data-driven and high-stakes energy storage market.

One of the most notable additions is the Penalty Risk Assessment feature. This breakthrough tool offers operators precise insights into State of Charge (SoC) dynamics, providing real-time alerts and data-backed SoC limit recommendations. Unlike traditional battery management system (BMS) estimates, which can be unreliable near threshold conditions, the tool analyzes real-world system behavior to help operators avoid costly penalties and ensure peak performance during periods of high electricity prices.

“Our customers are managing more data and complexity than ever,” said Stephan Rohr, Co-CEO and Founder of TWAICE. “We’re innovating not just for the sake of technology, but to deliver immediate, actionable value that drives stronger operational and financial outcomes.”

Among the other standout updates:

  • Energy KPIs for Performance Optimization: New Usable and Recoverable Energy indicators help identify and prioritize hidden energy losses. Integration with Modo Energy’s financial tools connects these metrics directly to revenue, aiding smarter asset management.
  • Roundtrip Efficiency (RTE) Insights: Beyond battery-level data, this feature provides detailed visibility into inverter and transformer losses, enabling early detection of performance degradation.
  • Warranty & Contract Compliance Monitoring: A customizable tracker covering 50+ KPIs ensures operators stay within warranty and guarantee parameters, reducing the risk of disputes and unplanned costs.
  • Enhanced Automated Reporting: New capabilities allow teams to receive deep-linked, customized operational insights at daily, weekly, or monthly intervals, accelerating informed decision-making.

Alex King, Head of Asset Management at BW ESS, a key TWAICE customer, praised the update: “TWAICE gives us the clarity to run our BESS assets efficiently and safely, while maximizing uptime and long-term value.”

These enhancements reflect TWAICE’s ongoing commitment to transforming data complexity into commercial advantage for BESS stakeholders.
