Prevalon Energy, a leader in advanced energy storage solutions, has successfully completed Large-Scale Fire Testing (LSFT) of its HD5™ energy storage enclosure—proving strong fire containment even under extreme conditions.

The test, conducted at a certified facility following CSA TS-800 standards, replicated a thermal runaway event in a fully operational HD5™ unit. Four enclosures were arranged in a standard back-to-back, side-to-side layout. The initiating unit was exposed to extreme conditions to drive full thermal propagation. The results confirmed that the fire remained fully contained within the initiating unit, with no damage to neighboring enclosures and all battery modules staying below critical thermal thresholds.

Alejandro Schnakofsky, Chief Technical Officer at Prevalon Energy, stressed that ensuring the safety and reliability of its energy storage systems is essential. He highlighted that the successful completion of the rigorous testing validates Prevalon’s design principles and strengthens customer confidence in the durability of its solutions.

The HD5™ Platform incorporates integrated fire mitigation features—advanced thermal barriers and optimized component arrangement—engineered to isolate and manage thermal events. These systems comply with the latest UL and NFPA safety standards, helping customers stay ahead of shifting regulatory demands.

Tom Cornell, President and CEO of Prevalon Energy, underlined that safety and reliability are critical in energy storage, stating that the Large-Scale Fire Test’s successful outcome reflects the team’s dedication to delivering innovative technology and assurance to customers.

Prevalon is also addressing another key industry need: acoustics. The company is advancing low-noise solutions to comply with strict community noise ordinances—making the HD5™ safer, quieter, and better suited for urban and suburban settings.

This achievement was made possible through collaboration with one of Prevalon’s contract manufacturers, Clou, demonstrating the company’s commitment to superior manufacturing and thorough testing. It highlights Prevalon Energy’s focus on continuous innovation and its proactive stance toward exceeding emerging safety and environmental standards in energy storage.
