Trina Storage’s Elementa 2 Platform Earns Global Recognition for Safety, Reliability, and Bankability

Trina Storage’s Elementa 2 platform, designed to meet diverse utility-scale energy storage needs, earned industry recognition for its outstanding safety, reliability, and bankability. Among its configurations, both the 4 MWh and 5 MWh versions have been evaluated and certified by leading global authorities DNV and UL Solutions, highlighting the platform’s advanced design and robust safety.

The 4 MWh version of the Elementa 2 platform, powered by a 306Ah battery cell, has been certified by DNV for meeting international standards including UL 1973, IEC 62619, IEC 63056 and UL 9540A thermal runaway testing, alongside its reliable design and advanced safety features such as a multi-layer battery management system, fire safety systems, and a liquid-cooling solution, contributing to its high performance and efficiency. 

The 5 MWh version, equipped with a 314Ah battery cell, was evaluated by UL Solutions, confirming the product’s safety design, technical advantages, and adherence to industry standards like UL 1973, IEC 62619, UN38.3, and UL 9540A. Like the 4 MWh version, it also integrates an advanced multi-layer battery management system, automatic fire safety systems, and a liquid-cooling solution, further enhancing its operational reliability.

Additionally, both DNV and UL Solutions visited Trina Storage’s manufacturing facility and reviewed the company’s production processes, quality control systems, and supply chain management. The audit confirmed that the production line is highly automated and well-managed, ensuring consistent product quality from materials supply to final delivery. With 10 GWh of energy storage systems already shipped globally by the end of 2024, Trina Storage continues to demonstrate its operational strength and leadership in the market.

Both DNV and UL Solutions also conducted a comprehensive review of Trina Storage’s corporate capabilities, including its history, market position, financial status, project experience, and intellectual property. The positive assessment further underscores Trina Storage’s competitiveness and bankability as a trusted global energy storage partner.
