LG Energy Solution Arizona Advances Battery Facility Construction and Launches Workforce Training Center

LG Energy Solution Arizona recently hosted an event to share progress on its new battery manufacturing facility and officially open its workforce training center designed to prepare the next generation of battery experts within the local community.

The event welcomed prominent guests including Richard Ra, President of LG Energy Solution Arizona; Sandra Watson, President and CEO of the Arizona Commerce Authority (ACA); Danny Seiden, President and CEO of the Arizona Chamber of Commerce & Industry; Pinal County Supervisors Mike Goodman and Jeff Serdy; and Queen Creek Mayor Julia Wheatley, along with other state and local leaders.

During the event, Richard Ra announced that construction of LG’s first cylindrical battery plant in the U.S. is now approximately 50% complete. The company plans to initiate sample production by mid-next year, aiming for full-scale commercial production by the end of 2025.

Simultaneously, the company has begun training its launch team at the newly opened workforce training center. This facility, part of Arizona’s Future48 Workforce Accelerator program, is a collaborative effort between LG Energy Solution, the Arizona Commerce Authority, Pinal County, and Central Arizona College. According to Ra, the project will create approximately 1,500 jobs by 2027, significantly boosting the local economy and reinforcing Arizona’s status as a rising hub for high-tech manufacturing.

This Arizona facility marks LG Energy Solution’s first cylindrical battery manufacturing site in the U.S., further strengthening its footprint in North America. The company, with over two decades of regional experience, also operates a successful stand-alone plant in Holland, Michigan, producing pouch-type batteries for top automotive brands. Additionally, LG has several joint ventures underway with major automakers across the U.S.

With the establishment of its cylindrical battery production hub in Arizona, LG Energy Solution is ramping up its ability to supply advanced battery technologies to automakers expanding their electric vehicle offerings. The company has already signed multiple supply agreements with leading automotive manufacturers for its 46-Series cylindrical batteries, which will be produced at the Arizona site. This positions LG Energy Solution to support the increasing demand for American-made EV batteries.

Beyond manufacturing, the company is committed to developing a skilled local workforce. By recruiting and training talent within Arizona, LG Energy Solution is contributing to a robust local battery industry that includes not only production but also meaningful community partnerships and job creation.

Richard Ra expressed gratitude for the support from state and local partners, noting that the Arizona facility is on track for completion.
