ib vogt, a leading utility-scale renewables development platform, has finalized the sale of project rights for a 50MW/50MWh Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) in Finland to Renewable Power Capital (RPC), an investor in renewable energy projects. The BESS project, located in Uusikaupunki, Southwest Finland, achieved ready-to-build status in the previous year under the successful project development efforts of ib vogt. RPC will oversee procurement and construction, with an anticipated completion date in Q4 2025.

This BESS project, spanning 3 hectares of land, represents one of the largest of its kind in Finland and is poised to contribute various services to the nation’s power infrastructure over the next three decades. Its primary applications include grid services like frequency response and participation in energy trading on wholesale power markets. Such large-scale BESS deployments play a crucial role in providing flexibility for countries transitioning to renewable energy sources such as solar and wind.
