Atlas Renewable Energy, a global leader in renewable energy solutions, has solidified a significant partnership with Codelco, Chile’s state-owned mining giant and the world’s top copper producer. This landmark agreement entails a 24/7 power purchase agreement (PPA) for the provision of 375 GWh of renewable energy annually, facilitated by a cutting-edge solar project featuring an integrated battery energy storage system, set to be implemented in Chile.

The PPA, incorporating state-of-the-art technology including battery storage, comes after Codelco’s public tender process, where Atlas Renewable Energy emerged victorious. The commencement of clean energy supply is slated for 2026, with a duration spanning 15 years.

Carlos Barrera, CEO of Atlas Renewable Energy, emphasized the significance of this partnership, stating, “The formalization of this PPA with Codelco, a world-renowned institution in the world’s mining industry, underlines Atlas Renewable Energy’s commitment to develop innovative energy solutions tailored to our customers’ needs. With this project, we formally announce our entry into battery storage technology. We see this as an essential element to materially amplify the volume of renewable energy sources in the power system, and to offer our customers a broader suite of energy solutions. We are determined to be the partner of choice for large corporations looking to make the energy transition, and to do so we will endeavor to continue innovating to find ways to better serve our customer’s needs.”
