Pacific Green Technologies, Inc., a leading global energy storage and environmental technology company, has announced its ambitious plans to target over 12GWh of battery energy storage capacity across four key global markets.

With rapid pipeline growth already achieved to 6GWh in 2023, including significant positions in emerging markets such as Italy and Australia, Pacific Green is doubling down on utility-scale battery energy storage systems (BESS) as a primary focus for 2024 and beyond.

Key markets for expansion include Australia, Italy, the United Kingdom, and Poland. Pacific Green aims to establish a minimum of 1GWh capacity in each market it enters.

In the United Kingdom, the company has achieved significant milestones, including the commissioning of the Richborough Energy Park and securing financial close at the Sheaf Energy Park. Priorities for 2024 include progressing construction at Sheaf Energy Park and expanding the origination portfolio.

In Australia, Pacific Green aims to double its greenfield origination pipeline to over 6GWh, with plans to achieve financial close on its first 500MWh of storage capacity this year.

In Italy, the company has acquired a majority shareholding in five battery energy parks totaling 2.8GWh capacity. Plans for 2024 include achieving financial close on the first 1,500MWh of storage capacity and expanding the origination portfolio to nearly 5GWh.

Pacific Green also intends to enter the nascent Polish market in 2024, targeting an initial origination pipeline of approximately 400MWh storage capacity.

Scott Poulter, Chief Executive of Pacific Green, emphasized the company’s focus on rolling out next-generation battery energy parks at scale and speed. He highlighted the importance of technology, project development expertise, and strong partnerships in driving the energy transition forward.

Poulter reaffirmed Pacific Green’s commitment to building a robust pipeline, expanding its team, and nurturing international relationships to accelerate growth and make a significant impact in the battery energy storage sector.

Overall, Pacific Green Technologies is poised to play a vital role in advancing the energy transition and meeting the growing demand for sustainable energy solutions worldwide.
