In a historic moment, Gotion High-tech celebrated the official production launch of its inaugural battery pack at the Fremont factory in the United States. This marks a significant stride in Gotion’s “Made in USA” initiative, following strategic investments in battery and material facilities in Illinois and Michigan.
Distinguished guests, including Sun Yong, Deputy Governor of Anhui Province, Lily Mei, Mayor of Fremont, California, Wu Peimin, Commercial Counselor at the Chinese Consulate General in San Francisco, and Li Chen, Senior Vice President of Gotion and President of Gotion Americas Business, gathered to witness this pivotal event.
Gotion High-tech’s state-of-the-art Fremont factory, nestled in the heart of Silicon Valley, boasts a planned production capacity of 1 GWh. This facility represents Gotion’s premier battery pack production line in the U.S., showcasing an impressive 85% automation rate. The inauguration of the factory’s first battery production line on that momentous day marked the official commencement of Gotion’s “Made in USA” initiative.
Primarily targeting the Americas’ Energy Storage System (ESS) market, the Fremont factory is set to manufacture portable energy storage products and residential energy storage products with capacities spanning from 3 kWh to 30 kWh. In tandem, the facility is committed to ongoing advancements in technological innovation, customer development, service enhancements, and production capacity optimization. The overarching goal is to furnish customers with reliable, safe power battery systems and integrated energy storage systems.
Li Chen, Senior Vice President of Gotion and President of Gotion Americas Business, emphasized Silicon Valley’s pivotal role as a core innovation hub. The establishment of the Silicon Valley Research Institute in 2014 marked the commencement of Gotion’s internationalization journey, culminating in the establishment of the Fremont factory. Chen highlighted a decade of commitment to a three-in-one strategy focusing on localized research and development, manufacturing, and marketing.
Chen stated, “For the past decade, we have consistently adhered to a three-in-one strategy featuring localized research & development, localized manufacturing, and localized marketing. From the initial development of battery management systems to the present battery factory, we have encountered numerous challenges and tests. Today, we have made a name for ourselves in the Americas market, and with the help of the Illinois battery factory and Michigan material factory, Gotion will work together with customers to build a localized and diversified supply chain system characterized by a full value chain.”
