SAE is pleased to announce an agreement with Energy Optimisation Solutions, Quinbrook Infrastructure Partners through their portfolio company Uskmouth Energy Storage Limited (UES).

UES to supply a 230MW/460MWh battery energy storage (BESS) at Uskmouth. This is the UK’s largest BESS development. This 230MW/460MWh BESS will play an important role in the UK’s energy transition. It will also allow for more renewable power to be integrated into the electricity grid. This is an important step in SAE’s ability to deliver value to its shareholders and serves as an anchor project for the transformation of the Uskmouth site in a Sustainable Energy Park.

The project will deliver to SAE c.£40m in revenue over 30-years, of which c.£11m will be paid within the next 18 months, subject to the achievement of certain milestones.

UES will manage and own the project. The development will include a modification to the grid connection agreement as well as a planning application. Newport City Council will determine the latter. Construction will take approximately 18 months and the project should be operational by the end of 2024.
