Hithium, a global provider of energy storage solutions and services, has expanded its footprint in Latin America with the opening of a new office in Santiago, Chile. The move marks a strategic step in the company’s efforts to support the region’s growing demand for large-scale battery energy storage and accelerate the transition to clean energy.
The new office was officially inaugurated during a launch event attended by partners and stakeholders from Chile’s clean energy sector. During the event, Hithium presented its expansion strategy, recent product innovations, and key growth milestones.
According to the company, establishing a permanent presence in Santiago will allow it to better serve the Chilean market and strengthen collaboration with energy developers and industrial customers seeking advanced battery storage solutions.
Chile has emerged as one of the leading renewable energy markets in the Western Hemisphere, driven by strong solar and wind power growth and supportive government policies. The country’s energy transition plan aims to increase the share of clean energy from around 70 percent today to net-zero emissions by 2050. However, expanding renewable generation has also increased the need for large-scale energy storage systems to reduce power curtailment and maintain grid stability.
Hithium’s President of Global Business, Mizhi Zhang, said the company’s new office will help meet the region’s rapidly growing demand for energy storage technologies.
“Hithium is uniquely positioned to be a strong partner in Chile’s expansion of energy storage. Establishing a permanent presence in Santiago with our new office was a necessary next step,” Zhang said. “We are now optimally located to meet demand for high-capacity energy storage solutions and services across a wide range of market scenarios.”
During the event, Zhang also highlighted the company’s position in the global energy storage industry, noting that Hithium ranked among the top two companies worldwide for large-scale battery energy storage system (BESS) shipments in 2025.
The company showcased several of its latest innovations, including its 8-hour long-duration energy storage (LDES) system, designed to enhance grid stability and support large-scale renewable energy integration. Hithium also presented its high-capacity 2-hour and 4-hour battery cells, which offer increased flexibility for various commercial and industrial applications.
In addition, the company recently conducted an open-door fire test for its ∞Power 6.25 MWh energy storage system, equipped with 1175 Ah 0.25P battery cells, under the supervision of third-party safety experts from UL Solutions. The test demonstrated that higher battery capacity can be achieved without increasing safety risks.
With its new Chile office, Hithium aims to strengthen its role in supporting renewable energy integration across Latin America while providing advanced battery storage technologies for utilities, industrial sectors, and grid operators in the region.
