Xbattery, a Hyderabad-based deep-tech startup specialising in next-generation energy storage and Battery Management Systems (BMS), today launched the XB-5K, a 5kWh scalable energy storage solution designed for homes and small offices. The system is built on the startup’s BharatBMS platform, India’s first indigenously developed universal high-voltage BMS architecture, aimed at reducing reliance on Chinese imports and improving after-sales service.

Currently, China dominates over 40% of BMS imports into India and holds 60% of the global export market. Addressing this dependency, the XB-5K, weighing just 37kg, provides up to 5kWh of backup power, capable of running electronics and appliances, including air conditioners, for up to 24 hours. The plug-and-play system functions like a home powerbank, integrating data analytics and using high-quality lithium iron phosphate cells for long life and stable performance. It is certified for safe, everyday use.

Citing persistent power outages despite India’s energy supply growth of 7.8% in 2025, Satish Reddy, Cofounder & CEO of Xbattery, said, “Power outages still affect India’s growing economic productivity. An indigenously developed and affordable energy storage ecosystem is a necessity for sustainable development. It increases productivity, reduces import dependence, and opens up export opportunities. We’re building the complete value chain from the ground up, inspired by the simplicity of plugging a phone into a powerbank.”

The BharatBMS platform powers the XB-5K with AI- and ML-enabled intelligent modes, pre-emptive outage response, real-time state-of-charge monitoring, adaptive cell balancing, and advanced thermal management, extending battery life by up to 15% while lowering costs through local design, manufacturing, and servicing.

Sonu Mishra, Cofounder and CTO of Xbattery, added, “We’ve built the platform from the ground up, focusing on real-time analytics, remote diagnostics, and automatic upgrades, exceeding global benchmarks. Our in-house architecture adapts seamlessly across diverse energy needs, from homes to EVs and offices to factories. This marks our entry into competing with world-class BMS and BESS technology.”

Xbattery recently raised USD 2.3 million in seed funding to further enhance its R&D, design, and manufacturing capabilities, aiming to capitalise on India’s USD 150–200 billion energy storage market opportunity.
