Sungrow, a global leader in PV inverter and energy storage system (ESS) solutions, has announced a major expansion in Europe with the establishment of its first manufacturing facility in the region, located in Wałbrzych, Lower Silesia, Poland. The 65,400 square metre plant, backed by an investment of €230 million, is set to become operational within the next 12 months and is expected to create 400 new jobs, strengthening Europe’s clean energy manufacturing ecosystem.

The new facility represents a strategic milestone for Sungrow’s European operations, enabling the company to move closer to customers while enhancing supply-chain resilience across the region. Shawn Shi, President of Sungrow Europe, said the plant would play a key role in improving market responsiveness and ensuring stable, localized manufacturing to support Europe’s energy transition.

Designed for large-scale production, the Wałbrzych plant will have an annual manufacturing capacity of up to 20 GW of PV inverters and 12.5 GWh of energy storage systems. The facility will integrate advanced manufacturing technologies and rigorous quality-assurance processes to ensure high standards of performance, reliability, and safety.

Welcoming the investment, Marcin Lerner, President of the Management Board of the Wałbrzych Special Economic Zone, said the project underlines Poland’s growing strategic role in Europe’s clean energy value chain. He highlighted Lower Silesia’s strong industrial base, access to skilled talent, technical universities, and supportive public policies as key factors attracting large-scale renewable energy investments.

Beyond production, the new factory will significantly enhance Sungrow’s logistics and distribution capabilities in Europe by reducing lead times and enabling more efficient delivery of products to customers, thereby improving the overall resilience of the clean energy supply chain.

Emphasizing the importance of local talent, Shawn Shi noted that Lower Silesia’s expertise in electronics, automation, and advanced manufacturing made it an ideal location for the facility, with Sungrow planning to hire extensively from the local workforce.

Sungrow has been active in Europe since 2005, establishing its own legal entity in 2011, and has since expanded its footprint to 25 local representative offices, two R&D centres, 26 warehouses, and multiple training, technology, and service centres across the region. The company’s European headquarters is based in Munich, Germany, supporting its continued growth and commitment to Europe’s clean energy transition.
