Mumbai-based Prostarm Info Systems Ltd has announced plans to establish a state-of-the-art 1.2 GWh Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) manufacturing facility at Reliance MET City, Jhajjar, Haryana. This marks a major milestone in the company’s forward integration strategy and reinforces its commitment to India’s clean energy transition.

The upcoming facility will span 3,912.15 square meters, including a 34,000 sq. ft. covered shed, secured on a nine-year lease from May 2025 to April 2034. With a capital expenditure of ₹25 crore, the unit will house advanced machinery, HVAC systems, upgraded power infrastructure, warehousing, and high-end assembly lines to support both Commercial & Industrial (C&I) and Utility-scale applications. The commissioning is targeted for the end of FY 2026.

The project aligns with India’s broader goal to scale up energy storage capacity to 66 GW by 2032 from under 0.2 GW currently. The BESS market is anticipated to play a pivotal role in enabling renewable energy integration and minimizing carbon emissions. Factors like declining lithium-ion battery costs and increasing demand for grid stability and Genset alternatives in the C&I sector are driving adoption.
