Swiss energy storage company Leclanché SA has announced the successful restart of its M3 module production line at its Yverdon-les-Bains facility, following an incident reported in late November 2025.

According to the company, production resumed on January 5, 2026, after several weeks of testing and validation. Battery modules were initially produced in test mode ahead of the Christmas break, allowing Leclanché to verify system stability and product quality before returning to standard manufacturing operations.

While certain equipment damaged during the incident is still being replaced, Leclanché confirmed that production is currently operating under adapted conditions, including offline quality testing to compensate for the temporary shutdown of an inline testing station. The company emphasized that no assembly steps have been altered or compromised, ensuring full product compliance and maintained production capacity across key assembly processes.

Leclanché stated that operations will continue throughout the equipment replacement period, with a gradual ramp-up in output planned over the coming weeks. Near-full production capacity is expected to be achieved in the interim phase, with complete restoration once new equipment is fully installed.

The company also noted that supply disruptions to customers have been minimal, and the restart will help ensure uninterrupted deliveries, including continued battery pack assembly operations in Germany.

Commenting on the development, Pierre Blanc, Group CEO and Chief Technology and Industrial Officer of Leclanché, praised the efforts of internal teams and suppliers. He said their swift response and collaboration were critical in enabling a safe and timely restart of the production line.

Leclanché added that it will provide further updates should any new material information arise. Established in 1909, the company remains a key global player in lithium-ion energy storage solutions, serving e-mobility, stationary energy storage and specialty battery system markets worldwide.
